Just spent a few days in Switzerland for my grandmaman’s 90th birthday celebrations. The mountains, the snow! It was pretty awesome seeing everyone - it’s been over a decade since we were all in the same spot… I think it was the first time some of my little cousins actually pieced together that their great aunt is my mum!

It was an all too brief trip to the (grand)motherland.

Ottawa

I’m in Ottawa at the moment, just getting my US work visa processed and sorted. It’s quite cold and snowy, for the most part. I explored the Rideau Canal (by ice skating, of course), yesterday. By “explored”, I really mean, “skated, in quite a wobbly fashion, for about 2km before turning around”.

Still, I find snow to be quite special.

2013

Happy New Year!

I have been so terrible with blogging, honestly. One of my resolutions for 2013 is to write more (blog-wise, and in the handwritten sense), as well as continue to take a photo a day. After 366 (and counting?) days of taking a photo a day, I’m finding it hard to break the habit - and would also think it particularly lovely if I managed to make a collection of “the best” photos after a few years of the project! I’m partially inspired by Jamie Livingston, who took a photo nearly everyday of his life from 31 March 1979, until 25 October 1997 - the day of his death.

Below is a photo I took in December 2012 at Grey Lady in the Lower East Side. I originally uploaded it to Flickr, and was receiving a strangely huge number of stats from it… turns out, someone had reblogged it onto Tumblr - and now that post is sitting in the THOUSANDS of reblogs! I won’t lie - I’m a little chuffed.

Keen to see what 2013 brings. Hopefully I will be more diligent with blogging this time around.
